Village hall. Early C20. Pebble-dashed walls, graduated Westmorland slate roof.
T-shaped plan with gabled, 2-storey, single-bay central block having stair projection
to right; single-storey side-wings to rear. In Arts and Crafts style. Central doorcase
feature with double doors and overlight beneath moulded basket arch of herringbone-
tooled ashlar; architrave steps up over 2 flattened-ogee panels; consoled cornice
carved with oak leaves and roses. Flanking, round-headed, single-light windows have
moulded, quoined surrounds and dripstones. 5-light window over door has recessed,
cavetto-moulded, ogee-headed lights; dripstone. Tall windows to stair projection on
right. Carved kneelers set on cornices which return on side walls, moulded gable
copings. Wing set back to left has two, transomed 2-light windows beneath shaped
gable; door on right with moulded surround, carved lintel and bracketed hood. Wing
set back on right has door only; battered wallstone stalk.,with cornice to rear.
Left return: projection with double-transomed, 3-light window with cornice beneath
Diocletian window and shaped gable; flanking round-headed windows of 2 lights with
transom. Right return: angled stair projection with 3-light window, otherwise as
left return.
