Crimean War memorial pump. 1856. Cast iron. Moulded, circular trough set
at foot of Doric column with plaque fixed at its base, cranked handle on
right and spouts above the trough and on left near top. Plaque bears
inscription 'SUBSCRIPTION / PUMP / In Commemoration of the / PEACE. 1856 /
DRINK AND BE THANKFUL'. The column has 12-sided bands beneath base and
capital and handle fixed by a clamp to the shaft with additional linkage
above. Rare Crimean War memorial.
