This illustration of Nicholas de Stapleton's tombed-effigy shows a lion on the shield and this is the Stapleton family coat-of-arms. However, at the top of the shield is " a five pointed label " to imply he was the son of the "senior-holder" of the coat-of-arms (without a 5 pointed label).
