Stable block. c.1810. For Rev William Smith, MA. Coursed sandstone, pantile
roof. 1:1:1 bays, with central 2-storey coach-house flanked by single-storey
stables. Central segmental-arched coach opening, the arch in dressed stone and
now blocked to form 16-pane casement window; above, on first floor, a 4-pane
oculus with dressed stone surround, and above it a 6-hole pigeoncote; eaves
band; hipped roof. On either side of it, a 16-pane window with keyed canti-
levered lintel, and inserted casement window to right of first bay. Rear: from
left, stable door; board door below 5-pane overlight with board door to hayloft
above; casement,window; 9-panel door below 4-pane overlight. Left return:
first-floor side-sliding window; oversailing eaves. Interior: cast- and
wrought-iron stable fittings.
