Farmhouse and cottage. House early-mid C17, cottage C17 and probably mid
C18. Coursed squared gritstone, graduated stone slate roof except blue
slates to left bay of cottage. 2 storeys, originally a 4-bay lobby-entry
plan house now a 3-bay farmhouse and 2-bay cottage to left, divided to left
of the doorcase. C20 glazed door in moulded quoined surround with large
lintel under a dripmould with quatrefoil stops. Recessed chamfered mullion
windows to ground floor, of 3 lights to left of door in right-hand bay of
cottage (mullions removed), of 4 lights to 2 right-hand bays, all under
hoodmoulds. First floor: to left in cottage a small square window with
slightly projecting plain surround; over the door an inserted square window
and to right two 4-light recessed chamfered mullion windows. A blocked
round-headed window to left of door at first-floor level, probably an
original stair window. A banded stack opposite the door, forward of the
ridge. Left-hand bay of cottage has glazed door and C19 fenestratin, end
stack to left. Interior: spine beam to central main living room with
scarfing indicating position of the bressumer which supported a timber-
framed fire hood. Bay to right not included in the listing.
