House. Mid C19. Coursed squared gritstone, purple slate roof. 2 storeys, 3
bays with narrower recessed bay to left. Central 6-panel door with 4-pane over-
light; 16-pane sashes to ground and first floors; all openings have solid stone
lintels and projecting sills. Gable copings, banded multi-flue end stacks.
Hipped roof to recessed bay. Rear: C20 porch to left of centre; tall round-
headed stair sash window of 4 x 7 panes with interlaced glazing bars to head.
Flanking 16-pane sashes in flush wood frames. The house stands on part of the
site of the deserted village of High Cayton. N A Hudleston, personal
