House, now farmbuilding. C17. Coursed squared limestone, ashlar dressings,
graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Deep chamfered plinth.
Ground floor: five 4-centred arched doorways, some with plank doors, to
right of bays 1, 2, 3, 4 and centre of bay 5. Bays 1 to 4 have recessed and
chamfered mullion windows, all with dripmoulds, most mullions missing.
First floor: five 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, evenly
spaced. Stone coped gables; stump of large stack to left. Left return:
external stone steps to a 4-centred arched first-floor door with remains of
an external brick bread oven below. Right return: rectangular recesses to
ground floor are possibly the remains of bee boles. Interior not inspected
at resurvey. The building is known as the Dormitory, suggesting its use as
sleeping quarters for itinerant farm workers in the C19 and early C20.
