SOUTH COWTON
Gateway approximately 500 metres to south of Pepper Arden Hall

Gate piers, gates, railings and walls. Late C18. Ashlar and brick in
header bond. 2 round gate piers of ashlar with plinths, stone bands,
cornices and steppped, shallow conical caps. Wrought-iron gates with spiked
bars; railings to either side similar and ramped down to walls. Curved
brick side walls with ashlar coping have at ends cylindrical stone podia
with ball finials (that on right broken).
