House. C17 with C18 alterations. Sandstone rubble, pantile roof. Through-
passage now blocked, service wing to north. 2 storeys, 3 first-floor
windows to main range, one to lower service wing. Dressed quoins to main
range. 4-panel door beneath divided overlight with timber lintel. 3-light
double-chamfered mullion window to left. Replacement 16-pane sash in reused
stone frame to right. Fixed window to service wing. First floor: central
2-light Yorkshire sash in reused stone frame of former chamfered mullion
window. 2-light double-chamfered mullion to left. 16-pane sash in reused
stone frame set in earlier wider opening to right. 2-light Yorkshire sash
to service wing. Swept roof, gable coping, shaped kneelers and end stacks
to main range. Left end stack to service wing. Interior: deep splaying of
mullions through very thick walls. High ceilings to ground-floor rooms. An
upright member visible beneath wallpaper on the landing may be a post,
suggesting earlier timber framing. Roof of principal rafters halved and
pegged at the apex, and 2 sets of trenched purlins. Substantial tie-beams.
