Public fountain. Erected in C19 reusing C12 stone from Rosedale Abbey.
Dressed sandstone. Square on plan. Pointed cusped canopy reused to form a
flat lintel on colonettes with voluted cushion capitals. Flat cornice and
stepped cap terminating in a moulded pedestal carring an iron cross. The
lintel is inscribed: "St Cedd's Well". Interior: lions head pump with a
later tap above. A wooden panel records the weathered inscription incised
on the left return:
