GV II
Walls and gate piers. C19 and C20. For the Egton Estate. Sandstone,
part hammered, part herringbone-tooled. West side: walls approximately
1.25 metre high, with cambered coping. Pedestrian gateway towards
southern end, of square-section piers with overhanging pyramidal caps and
urn finials. North side: wall approximately .60 metre high, ramped up to
approximately 1.1 metre. Sloped coping. Pedestrian and carriage gateways
with square-section piers and pyramidal caps. Ball finials to pedestrian
gate. East side: approximately 1.1 metre high, with sloped coping,
stepped up, and curved in places. Square-section piers with overhanging
pyramidal caps and ball finials at northern end.
