Pair of cottages, now single dwelling. c.1845. By G.T.Andrews, Architect
to the York and North Midland Railway Company. Hammered sandstone on
plinth with tooled sandstone quoins and dressings; slate roof. 2-storey,
2-window front with 1-storey entrance bay at left. 4-panel door
approached by flight of steps in entrance bay. Main front has 12-pane
sashes with painted stone sills. All openings have bordered tooled
lintels. Overhanging eaves on shaped brackets. Central stack. Old
railway lamps attached left of door and in centre of main front. Cast
iron pump beneath timber shelter in centre of main front. Left return:
round-arched window with small-pane glazing in gable end. Rear: yard
formed by wall approximately 1.5 metre high with flat coping.
