Farmhouse. Mid C18, probably incorporating parts of C17 house; early C19
alteration and extension, and C20 modernisation. Herringbone-tooled sand-
stone front, dressed sandstone sides and rear; hammered sandstone
extension. Roman tile roof. 2-storey, 7-window front. Right-of-centre
C20 door in quoined, 2-centred-arched opening with date 1697 incised in
lintel. Flanking door, and at centre left, are tall narrow lights with
small-pane glazing. Remaining ground floor windows left of door are
24-pane fixed lights; those to right 16-pane sashes. Window over door is
blocked. Windows to left are 2-light,12-pane horizontal sliding sashes,
narrow 6-pane sash and tripartite with centre sash. Windows to right are
tripartite with centre sashes. All windows have keyed, rusticated
surrounds, with dropped keyblocks on ground floor. Coped gables and
shaped kneelers. End and centre left stacks. Rear: two blocked C17
quoined window surrounds, with shaped lintels, in rear wall. Return wall
of outshut extension contains C20 door beneath divided overlight, and
16-pane sash above. Bordered hammered lintels to both openings, and
tooled sill to window. Right return: two quoined window surrounds, one
with small sash and chamfered lintel, and one blocked, in attic.
