II
Farmhouse, C18 refurbished and extended early C19. Finely-coursed
squared tooled sandstone. Roof renewed in concrete pantiles except
for 1-storey part, clay pantiles; stone copings, kneelers, stacks.
3 builds: at right a 1-storey, 1-bay section with a 16-pane sash
window in door position. 2-storey, 2-bay centre section with
20-pane sash windows. Early C19 taller left extension also 2
storeys, 2 bays. In second bay a 6-panel door with Gothick fanlight.
16-pane sashes. All openings under tall wedge lintels with extended
shoulders; projecting cills. Gable copings on curved kneelers;
corniced stacks at ends of centre block.
On right return a datestone I.W. J.C. 1692 set below eaves,
possibly brought from elsewhere. 2-storey right rear wing and
1-storey left rear wing with varied windows: some fixed lights, a
Yorkshire sash and modern casements with glazing bars. In rear
wall of early C19 block a stair window with 2-centred head and
Gothick interlaced glazing bars.
Interior: 6-panel doors, panelled shutters, panelled reveal to
front door. Attractive dog-leg staircase with wide angle curve,
2 fluted square balusters to a tread and carved tread ends.
