House. "J H 1697" on lintel, with later additions and alterations.
Reputedly for James Heptonstall. Random coursed magnesian limestone with
stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Off-centre entrance a studded plank
door within chamfered surround with massive lintel. 4-pane sashes to outer
bays with ashlar quoined jambs, stone sills and tooled lintels. To centre
bay of first floor a fire window within double chamfered surround. Roof
hipped to left. Ashlar coping and kneeler to right. Ridge stack.
Interior: some chamfered ceiling beams, and plank doors to ground floor.
Dog-leg staircase with oak vase-on-bobbin balusters.
