Gates, piers and boundary walls. Early-mid C19. Rubble and
coursed rubble, cast-iron. Opposite the central bay to the N
front of the Manor House (qv) is a pair of heavy cast-iron
gates with square bars and dog-bars, and spearhead tops, set
to square stone banded piers with vermiculated alternating
with dressed stone, on moulded bases and with moulded cappings
with stone urns on double-stepped blockings; that to the right
overgrown at the time of survey.
To the left is a wall approx 2.2m high in coursed rubble to
stone-on-edge coping, but dropping to approx 2m height with a
deep weathered coping capped with 4 courses of brickwork and
brick-on-edge. This continues to the corner of the lane
leading to Manor Barn (qv). To the right the wall is stopped
to a Portland stone square pier with a heavy capping, followed
by a quadrant turn into Watery Lane stopped to a further pier.
The wall continues as boundary to West Manor, Church Street
(qv).
