Public house. c1830-40, altered. Coursed dressed sandstone;
stone slate and Welsh slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 bays to Bridge Street with twin wings
to rear giving a total of 6 bays to Castle Street on right
return; angled single-storey side wing on left and attached
2-storey outbuilding set back to rear left.
Symmetrical entrance front: large quoins; central door with
overlight in stone surround with hoodmould. Late C19/early C20
canted bay windows. First floor: projecting stone sills to 8/8
sashes in painted ashlar surrounds with hoodmoulds. Ashlar end
stacks with twin diagonally-set flues having bands and
cornices.
Cast-iron winged wheel (emblem of the Cyclists' Touring Club)
fixed to right stack.
Right return: original openings mostly with hoodmoulds; 2
blind windows.
Left return: angled wing has 2 8/8 sashes with hoodmoulds.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Outbuilding with various garage doors beneath 3 sash windows.
