House. C17 or earlier. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay
tiles. 3-bay main range facing SE, with axial stack near left end. 2-bay
crosswing at right end with axial stack near rear end. Late C18/early C19
cottage attached to left of main range, with one axial stack and stack in left
return wall. Small single-storey lean-to extension with zinc roof to rear of
cottage. Large lean-to shed with corrugated asbestos roof to rear of main house
and part of cottage. House of 2 storeys and attic, cottage of one storey with
attics. Ground floor, 4 C20 casements and C20 french windows. First floor, 3
C20 casements and one more in flat-roofed dormer. Attic, one C20 casement in
gabled roof dormer. Concertina stack on crosswing. Cottage has gambrel roof
with C19 grouped diagonal shafts on main stack. Underbuilt jetty at front of
crosswing, and a panel of late C17 pargetting above. C19 pargetting, chevron
design in panels, on left return wall of cottage. Both ground floor hearths of
main house have been rebuilt in C20, that of the crosswing having a brick
depressed arch. Exposed studding. Chamfered axial beam in main range, floor of
crosswing much altered. RCHM 16.
