Farmhouse, possibly latterly divided. Probably early to mid C17 with probably mid
to late C19 internal alterations, and further late C20 alterations and additions.
Rendered over stone rubble to ground floor and cob to first floor. Wheatstraw
thatched roof. Old brick end stack to right and C20 brick end stack to left
(rebuilding of earlier stack).
Plan and development: C17 three-room plan, with end stacks and unheated central
room. Entrances into central room and right-hand room, possibly suggesting that the
house may have been, divided at some time. Probably C18 or C19 outshut (probably
formerly dairy) at rear of left-hand room and C20 flat-roofed addition to rear of
central room. Two storeys with one-storey additions to rear.
Exterior: Asymmetrically - fenestrated front. Four windows to first floor and 3 to
ground floor; late C20 two-light plastic casements in old openings. Doorways off-
centre to left and right, between windows, with late C20 doors.
Interior: Left-hand ground-floor room has C17 open stone fireplace with chamfered
wooden lintel (opening later reduced in width) and square recess in wall to left with
shelves. Left-hand ground-floor room also has C17 chamfered beam with broach stops
reused as lintel above (possibly inserted in the C19 to create a larger opening for a
shop window - window since reduced). First floor and roofspace not inspected.
