3/2 Asserton House
II
Detached house. Late C18, rebuilt early C19, reroofed c1860.
Limestone ashlar front, flint and rubble stone returns, Welsh slate
2-span roof, brick stacks. Two parallel ranges. Two-storey, 3-
window front of c1830. Central C20 door with transom light,
12-pane margin-pane sash in elliptically-arched panel either side.
First floor has three 12-pane sashes with margin panes. Attic has
three gabled dormers with 6-pane sashes, slate roof on deep eaves
with paired brackets. Left return has 6-panelled door to left, 3-
light casement and 12-pane margin-pane sash, first floor has sash,
blocked window and sash to left attic. Right return has 6-panelled
door with transom light and sash to ground floor, 8-pane and 12-
pane sashes to first floor, sash to right attic. Attached to rear
is single-storey range of mid C19 outbuildings enclosing service
courtyard; 3-light casements, 16-pane sashes, planked doors and
slate roofs.
Interior has 6-panelled doors, central stairs with 2 stick
balusters per tread with shaped cheeks, moulded and wreathed
handrail, window shutters.
