Farmhouse. Late C16, early C18 rebuild. Flemish bond brick with
stone quoins to south front, chequered flint and rubble stone to
rear and returns, tiled roof, gable end brick stacks. Gable end to
road, 'T'-plan. Two-storey and attic, 5-windowed; casements.
Central gabled porch with half-glazed door in chamfered stone case,
two C20 steel 2-light casements to either side, inserted into
former mullioned windows. Moulded string course to first floor;
five casements, two retain recessed chamfered mullioned surrounds,
remainder steel or wooden inserts. Two hipped dormers with 2-light
casements. Right return has C20 casement to attic. Left return
has blocked attic window with inserted clock face. Rear of main
range has 1-light casement to first floor. Rear wing has 3-light
recessed chamfered mullioned casements or 3-light wooden casements,
attached to rear of wing is single storey extension with hipped
roof.
Interior retains good C16 compartmental ceiling with moulded cross
beams in wing, together with large blocked open fireplace with
timber lintel on stone jambs, timber-framed partition between wing
and front range and studded partition to first floor of front
range. Planked doors, including one with moulded recessed central
plank, front range has reused chamfered ceiling beams set upside-
down to ground floor, chamfered beams with shaped stops to first
floor.
