SD 49 SE UNDERBARROW AND
BRADLEYFIELD

1/35 Low Blakebank
Farmhouse

G.V. II

House. C17 with C19 alterations. Roughcast rubble walls, slate roof, end
chimney stacks. 2 storeys. Central 6-panelled door with porch of stone slabs.
1 12-paned window with single opening light to left and 1 8-paned sash window to
right. 3 sash windows with glazing bars to upper floor. Interior has heavy
roof construction with two levels of purlins, plank and muntin partition in
entrance passage. Late Cl7 staircase with closed string and turned balusters,
heavy moulded handrail and square newels. Dairy has blocked C17 window with
diagonal timber mullions. The original plank floors remain upstairs, ground
floors are of slate. Some original doors and some early C19 doors have also
been retained. See also RCHM p.231.
