House and cottage, house now divided into 3 units. Dated 1853 on datestone with
initials S.W. above. Ashlar walls with limestone dressings, slate roof with
copings to gables and 4 sets of decorative stone chimney stacks: 2 pairs set
diagonally, 1 of 5 square stacks in a row, 1 of 3 round stacks on right hand
gable. Cottage and main part of house form almost symmetrical layout, wing set
back to the right with gable end to road appears to be different build and has
rusticated limestone quoins, roughly dressed and cill band to first floor.
Central projecting gable with stone coping and kneelers, surmounted by tulip
finial. Stone porch with ball finial on gable and diagonally boarded door
decorated with fleur-de-lys under label mould in cottage to left. Cottage has
two paired sashes to either side of porch and two paired sashes above. Ground
floor of house has tripartite sash window with stone surround and labels, paired
sashes to either side of bay; quadruple sashes with heavy timber mullions to
wing at right. Upper floor has tripartite sash with moulded surround and
labels, 2 paired sashes. Wing has tripartite window with pointed arch head and
stone voussoirs to upper floor and oriel window in side.
