House. Early C19; some later additions of C19 and few later alterations. Painted
stone rubble with Pentewan stone dresssings. Hipped slate roof with lead rolls to
ridge and hips; deep eaves. Axial stacks and stack to rear right with brick shafts.
Plan: Double depth plan, with central entrance and principal room to front left and
right. At the right side is the garden front, with a further principal room to rear
right. There is a stair hall to rear centre and a kitchen to rear left. In later
C19, a 2-room plan wing was added at the left end and a one-room plan addition to
rear left, of single-storey, as a service room.
Exterior: 2 storeys on plinth, a symmetrical 3-window front. All windows are C19
12-pane sashes with flat brick arches. Central Doric portico in granite with
cornice; inner double half-glazed C19 doors with fanlight with radial glazing bars.
At the right end there are two C19 12-pane sashes at ground and first floors. At the
left end there is a C19 12-pane sash at ground floor to right. Set back to left is
the later C19 2-storey addition; at ground and first floors this has a late C19 4-
pane sash.
The left end of the wing has C20 half-glazed door and late C19 4-pane sash at ground
and first floors. The rear of the main house has central 15-pane sash with margin
glazing, round arch with radial glazing-bars, lighting the stair. At first floor to
right and left a late C19 4-pane sash and at ground floor to left a late C19 8-pane
sash. To right there is a C20 half-glazed door and a C19 12-pane sash; similar 12-
pane sash at first floor to right. There is a single storey porch addition with C19
16-pane sash at the inner side and at the rear, with C20 half-glazed door and sash at
ground and first floor.
Interior: Not fully inspected. The entrance hall has panelled double doors to right
and left. The principal rooms to front right and left have marble chimney-pieces and
panelled window shutters. Open-well stair with stick balusters and wreathed
handrail. The kitchen has a large C19 fireplace with mantel.
