Farmhouse now 3 houses. C17, possibly older, remodelled in the C18, reduced probably
also in the C18. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Mostly grouted scantle
slate roof, replaced with asbestos slate to front, middle and left of rear of
principal range. C17 or early C18 dressed granite stack at right-hand gable end
brick stacks over other gable ends.
Plan: L-shaped plan plus C17 short kitchen wing at right angles in front of the
former probable through passage. Originally probably an E-shaped plan with 2 wings
at right angles behind the right and left-hand sides and a 2-storey porch at the rear
of the through passage. The rear left-hand wing survives remodelled as a separate
house, the other probable parlour wing and porch were demolished probably circa late
C18 or early C19. Present plan has former hall on the right and kitchen on the left
(now a separate house) and a 2-room plan house at right angles behind the left hand
side.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Mostly C17, C18 and C19 openings, some of the later openings
have reused C17 masonry. Mostly C20 doors and windows. South-east front has gable
end of kitchen wing midway. On the right are 3 bays of former 2-light chamfered
mullioned windows (to both floors). Left-hand window is now a doorway, middle window
still has its central mullion. Kitchen wing has external stack on the left and
blocked C17 mid-floor window on the right. Other openings of this front are later
and some have reused C17 chamfered masonry.
Rear has wide chamfered doorway (mostly blocked) with brick rebuilding above
(evidence for removal of former 2-storey porch). On the left is granite ashlar
rebuilding (where parlour wing was demolished).
Rear left-hand wing has 4 chamfered openings probably in-situ, a doorway in right-
hand north east wall towards rear and 3 window openings in the opposite wall.
Central window is partly blocked by a later porch. There is a jambstone on the right
of a window opening between the middle window and the blocked C17 window on the
right. Left-hand window has C17 jambstone on its left only. Right-hand gable end of
house has 2 blocked C17 window openings.
Interior: Partly inspected interior has interesting C17 or C18 wooden newel stair
with granite newel post (at rear of kitchen front wing on the right); two C18 2-panel
doors over C17 hall, one with bolection mouldings. There is said to be an enormous
stone oven (not inspected)in a fireplace in the left-hand end of the house.
