House and shop, originally a house. Circa early C18. Dressed coursed elvan with
dressed granite quoins and dressed voussoirs to flat arches, slate sills. Scantle
slate roofs with gable ends and gable and axial stacks. Brick chimneys except for
stone chimney over right hand gable end. Cast-iron ogee gutters.
Plan: L-shaped plan. Probably originally a 2 room house with cross passage between
the rooms and with a 1 room plan service room behind the left hand room. In the
circa early or mid C19 the right hand room (probably parlour) converted to shop and a
lean-to added behind; the left hand room and cross passage converted to a 2 rooms
wide house with smaller rooms and the passage resited towards the left between these
rooms.
Exterior : 2 storeys. Slightly irregular 3 window south front, probably originally a
nearly symmetrical 5 window front. Now a 2-window house front, left, with doorway
central to the fenestration and a shopfront, right, with 1 first floor window. The
house has doorway in probably former window position and right hand window in former
doorway position. 6-panel door with top panels later glazed, blocked window opening
over the doorway, circa early C19 12-pane hornless sashes to ground floor openings,
16-pane similar sashes to first floor openings except that middle window is horned
copy. The shopfront, right, has large panes and doorway on its left.
