GV II
Shop with accommodation, originally a house. Probably C17, remodelled in the C18 and
C19. Granite rubble with dressed granite quoins and jambstones, rendered at rear.
Scantle slate roofs with brick chimneys over the gable ends, some C17 handmade
crested clay ridge tiles, slurried at rear. Cast-iron ogee gutter at the front.
Plan : 2 room plan with shop at front and former service room in wing at right angles
behind, truncated walls of former building on left perhaps originally part of the
same house.
Exterior : 2 storeys. 1 window north west front with C20 remodelled shopfront to
ground floor and circa early C19 hornless sash with some glazing bars removed above.
Straight joint above shopfront doorway jamb, left, and paired brackets on the fascia
board.
At left hand side wall of rear wing is sprocketted dormer with circa late C18 or
early C19 2-light casement with wide panes between horizontal glazing bars.
Interior not inspected.
This building is probably the surviving lower end of a formerly much larger house in
the C17 and C18.
