Farmhouse. Probably C17 origins, remodelled in circa mid C19. Local stone rubble
with granite quoins. Rag slate roof with gable ends, continuing down in catslide
roof over outshot extension. Stone rubble end stack on east gable end (left) and
rendered stack on west (right hand) gable end. Rendered brick stack to rear wing on
south.
Plan: Interior not accessible at time of survey (1986) and the original arrangement
is uncertain. It is possible that earlier features may survive behind the mid C19
remodelling. A house of considerable importance was marked by Norden who surveyed in
area in circa 1584 and it is possible that the existing house may comprise part of
the remains. Overall "L" shaped plan with front north range of two room and cross
passage plan, heated by end stacks with ground rising to right on west. Wing of two
room plan, to rear of lower left hand room, the back (south) room heated by an end
stack. Circa C19 outshot across front (north) elevation with straight joint towards
west of front and therefore probably of 2 builds. C19 outshot extension on lower
(east) gable end.
Exterior: 2 storey outshot extension across front with straight joint towards right
of front. Plank door near centre with C19 and C20 casements. Southern elevation to
rear with asymmetrical 2 window front; late C19 or early C20 6-pane and 4-pane sashes
on ground floor and C20 4-pane sash in gabled half dormer and 4-pane sash to right.
The west elevation of the rear wing has a 2-light casement, 4-panel door and C20
window to right with 1-light casement and circa C19 20-pane sash above.
Interior: Not accessible.
