Farmhouse, now house. Probably originally C18, enlarged and altered in circa mid
C19, probably for an agent of the Lanhydrock estate. C20 alterations. Slatestone
rubble ; front rendered and lined out; the left side slate-hung. Slate roof with
lead roll to ridge and with gable ends; the front range has gable end stack to right
with rendered shaft. The rear wing to left has axial stack and end stack.
Plan: The front range appears to be the original house, of single depth plan, with
central entrance and room to right and left. In the C19, the house was extended,
with a wing to rear left, with rooms facing the garden at the left side. There is a
return range along the rear enclosing a service yard, with buildings originally as
stables and outhouses, now part of the house.
Exterior: 2-storey, asymmetrical 3-window front. Ground floor has flat-roofed porch
with pilasters and cornice, outer double doors half-glazed with margin glazing, inner
4-panelled door. Large 16-pane sash to right and left. Three 16-pane sashes at
first floor with scalloped blind boxes. The right gable end has C20 window at ground
floor to right. The left side is slate-hung, with central canted bay through 2
storeys with hipped roof. To right, two 16-pane sashes with scalloped blind boxes at
ground floor, 16-pane sash and 12-pane sash at first floor. The canted bay has 12-
pane sashes at ground floor with scalloped blind boxes, 16-pane sashes at first
floor. To left, C20 French windows with scalloped valance. The rear is in 3 builds;
the main range has 30-pane sash and 16-pane sash at ground floor, two 16-pane sashes
at first floor. Straight joint to the former stable at end left, with door at ground
floor and 16-pane sash at first floor. Inside the service yard, to rear, the stable
is asbestos slate-hung at upper level, carried over on 2 cast iron piers, irregular
fenestration with casements and sashes.
