Farmhouse. Probably early C17, partly demolished and extended in mid C19. Rendered
and painted stone rubble and cob, the front range with granite quoins. Rag slate
roof with gable ends and rendered end stacks.
Plan: Original arrangement uncertain. Possibly originally 2 or 3 room and through
or cross passage plan with C17 2 storey porch: the lower left end heated by an end
stack. The higher end of the house has been demolished to right of the passage and
the entrance to the porch blocked. In the circa mid C19 the house was extended at
the lower end with a 2-room and cross passage plan crosswing forming a roughly
overall 'T' shaped plan. Circa C19 outshut extension to rear of passage of earlier
range and small lean-to outshut to rear of right hand room of later range.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 3-window front to circa mid C19 range. C19 porch near
centre of stone rubble with brick dressings and slate roof with gable ends. The C19
sash windows have been replaced with C20 P.V.C. windows in original openings with
chamfered brick surrounds. On the earlier rear wing, the 2-storey porch has a
chamfered 4-centred arch which has been partly blocked to form a window. 2-light
cavetto moulded granite mullion window above. Similar window reset in outshut to
rear.
Interior: Earlier range has C19 plastered ceiling and the partition on the lower
side of the passage has been removed.
