rear probably of C19 and C20. Rendered stone rubble. Slate roof with ridge tiles
and gable ends. Gable end stack to left with brick shaft. Axial stack to right with
granite ashlar shaft with cornice.
Plan: 3-room and cross passage plan. The lower end room is to left, heated from a
gable end stack to left. The hall is to right of the passage, heated from an axial
stack at the right end of the room; this may originally have been a 2-room plan, with
the hall stack at the right gable end. There is a small upper end room at the right
end, which is unheated, there may originally have been a back-to-back fireplace with
the axial hall stack. There is a single storey outshut, unheated, along the whole of
the rear and a single storey lean-to at the left end, of C19 - early C20.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrical 3-window front. At first floor there are three
C20 casements. Ground floor has C20 window to left and right and to end right; the
window to right of the passage entrance was rebuilt in circa C18, with flat granite
arch and keystone. There is a half-glazed C20 door to the passage set in a C20
gabled porch. At the left end there is a single storey lean-to with slate roof and
plank door at the front. At the right end there is a window at first floor, 2-light,
in granite, with chamfered surround and mullion, with hood mould, each light of 6
panes with C19 glazing. Along the rear there is a single storey outshut with slate
roof and casements, C20 porch and door.
Interior: There is a wide passage with a straight stair of C19 inserted along the
right side of the passage. The passage has C19 ceiling beams. There is a step up to
the hall to right; the axial fireplace has granite jambs and lintel, with C20 range
inserted. The front window has a splayed reveal, and there is a step up to the upper
end room, with a plank door. The lower end room has C20 fireplace. Roof space not
accessible, said to retain one early truss which is roughly hewn and pegged.
