Gladys Holman House was once stunning inside, unfortuantly the current owners have been careless and numerous break-ins have resulted in lots of damage. Floorboards are missing, plaster is falling from the walls, and many windows are broken. In places the ceilings are open to the sky, resulting in water damage and damp. There is a beautiful staircase, and the ceiling mouldings are still present, although showing lots of damp. and according to one man l met there who has been into the cellars, they are under around a metre of water, which, considering they are made of portland stone, will soon start to crumble away, and at that point the house will be in serious danger of collapse.
Externally, there are large amounts of rubbish and rubble to the rear of the building.
I couldn't possibly comment on the possibility that this may be what the developers are waitig for, after all, the house stands on land in the centre of Camborne. Nor would l suggest that a nice new housing estate would make far more money than a derelict old house.
