GV II
Lychgate. 1810. Granite ashlar and some red brick; slate roof. Rectangular
plan. Wide semi-elliptical entrance archway with imposts, joggled
voussoirs, a band , and embattled parapet with obelisk finials at the ends.
Short ramped side walls to side gates. Rear end has similar archway under
brick gable. Interior contains massive granite coffin-rest, approx. 4½
metres long, protruding at west end; presumably for multiple burials
following mine accidents.
