House. C16. Timber framed, roughcast rendered, roofed with C20 red clay
pantiles. 3 bays facing approx. S with external stack at right end, and 2-bay
crosswing at left end, with axial stack at the junction, the whole forming a
rectangular plan. Single-storey parallel range to rear, C18. 2 storeys.
3-window range of C20 casements. C20 door. Roof continuous and hipped at both
ends. Grouped diagonal shafts, cement-rendered. Shaped sprockets under eaves.
Chamfered beams with plain stops, plain joists of horizontal section, exposed
throughout. In main range, cambered tiebeam with one of 2 chamfered arched
braces, and base of crownpost visible. In crosswing, steeply cambered tiebeam
without braces or mortices for them. No access to roof. RCHM 28, described as
Salcottstone Farm.
