GV II

2 adjoining houses and raised pavements to front. C18. Shale rubble (No 23 painted) with slate sills, freestone flat arches and wooden lintels. Steep scantle slate and asbestos slate roof, part grouted with bitumen. Brick
chimney over side wall with hip, left, and adjoining gable of No 25, right. Projecting eaves with boxed in cornice.
Plan of 2 originally nearly identical houses each with 2 front reception rooms with passage between leading to central stair between rear service rooms within outshuts and with passage between houses for rear access. Passage is now incorporated into No 23.
2 storeys. Regular 7-window range facing road (west) of 4-window front of No 23,
left, and symmetrical 3-window front of No 24, right. No 23 has 1 window to left of doorway and 1 to right. Originally right-hand window was doorway to through passage between houses. Doorway has recessed 8-panel door. Windows to both
houses are 12-pane horned sash. No 24 has hood on moulded brackets over central doorway and door.
Raised cobbled pavement to front with rubble retaining wall and 4 granite steps
before the doorway of No 23. Further steps to left of house.
