Farmhouse. C17. Slatestone and cob with corrugated asbestos gable ended roof
(formerly thatched). 2 room through passage plan. 2 storeys. Irregular 3 window
east front. Single storey lean-to obscures ground floor walling and slight
projection to left lower end, probably original stair turret. 2 doorways to right
of centre (right blocked) with 3-light casement to left and C20 casement to right.
First floor, 16-pane sash off centre with 14-pane sash to right and 2-light casement
with glazing bars to left over lean-to. Massive stone chimney to left gable and
external stack to right gable. 2 window west front has blocked doorway opposite
east doorway. 12-pane, 2-light wooden casement to lower end with 4-pane, 2- light
wooden casement in greatly reduced opening over. Upper end windows are 2-light
wooden casements.
Interior has thick wall to right of entrance (probably dating from period of
conversion to 2 cottages) and plank and muntin screen to left. Stair along back wall
approached from lower room. Lower end hearth enormous but blocked with adjacent
stair turret recess. Chamfered and stopped waney oak ceiling beams survive and C17
two-panel door with wide stiles and rails to first floor.
