Commercial building, now building society and solicitors offices. Circa 1870s.
Stuccoed rubblestone with incised, rusticated ground floor. Steeply pitched slate
roof with gable ends and pierced and crested ridge tiles. 2 storeys, asymmetrical 4
window front. Ground floor with panelled door to left with plain fanlight above.
Sash to left and 2 sashes to right of central entrance. Sashes without glazing
bars. Engraved glass for business of R. Hancock and Son, Solicitors. Central
entrance with 4-panelled door with plain fanlight above and ornate free-style
stuccoed hood, corbelled out on incised brackets with moulded cornice, continued as
string over ground floor. Surmounted by scroll pediment flanked by ball finials.
Above, placed asymmetrically, 4 sashes without glazing bars and with ornamental
aprons below. Engraved glass. Segmented arches with string course continued at
impost level. Keys continued into moulded cornice. A complete facade of its period
including glazing and door.
