SX 36 NE CALLINGTON CHURCH STREET (west side),

8/19 Churchyard boudary wall running
between Chequettes Hall and north
side of churchyard. Gatepiers and
gate to churchyard on north east
and boundary wall to east of church
of St Mary GV II

Churchyard boundary wall to north of church, gate piers and gate to north east of
church and boundary wall and railings to east of church. Circa C18 and mid C19.
Rubblestone and granite on north and rubblestone with wrought-iron railing on east.
To north of church, rubblestone wall continues to form 2m high retaining wall for
churchyard and 5m high wall to south of Chequettes Hall (qv) as ground drops to
north. Probably originally rear wall of stable block for Chequettes Hall. Large
rubblestone buttresses on north side with blocked, round arched opening. Abuts lower
wall to north east and east of church with gatepiers at north east corner. Ashlar
stone gate piers with moulded caps. Caps broken and remounted. Wrought iron gates.
Rubblestone wall with granite coping continues southwards to east of church
surmounted by wrought iron railings.
