Offices, 1874 by W.H. Blessley (Middlesbrough). Brick, in Flemish bond,
with sandstone dressings. Welsh slate roof. Rebuilt transverse ridge
stacks. U-plan. Italianate. 4 storeys, 8 bays and right end quadrant bay.
Renewed panelled double doors and fanlight in 5th bay of round-arcaded
ground floor on deep plinth. Upper floors divided into 5-bay centre, and
2-bay ends, by pilaster strips. Segment-arcaded first floor, with
continuous hoodmould, sill band and blind tympana. Round-arcaded 2nd floor
with pointed hoodmoulds. 3rd floor has square-headed windows under shaped
lintels and continuous hoodmould; and moulded sill bands. Sashes.
Corbelled eaves cornice. Short curved parapet over quadrant bay. Hipped
and gabled shallow-pitched roof. Similar 7-bay right return and quadrant
right end bay. Included for group value.
