2/26 Brookside Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse circa.1820. Brown brick with Flemish bond front; gabled
stone-slate roof with flush chimneys. Four 16-pane sashes to front
and a late C20 2-pane landing window (in formerly blocked opening) to
front, with 3 gauged brick and 2 camber arches. Door with 6 fielded
panels under wooden radial-bar fanlight. Tall round-arched
small-pane sash at rear to stair. Other rear windows are wooden
casements, probably late C19.
Interior: Doors of 6 flush panels to front rooms, broad-boarded
elsewhere; wrought iron long hinges to back door; internal shutters
to front windows; plain open string dogleg stair with square
balusters and turned posts; openings between stair and rear bedrooms
(which may originally have had no windows); iron fireplaces in upper
rooms.
