School, and School Master's House. Dated 1874. Brick with stone dressings and
slate roof. The school is a single range, with buttressed gable facing street
containing three foiled lancets with foiled circle above set beneath a two centred
relieving arch, with the date carved in the spandrels, and outer blue brick arch.
Blue brick sill course. Tumbled brick in stone coped gable. Side elevation
has two centred arched doorway and three chamfered stone mullioned 3-light windows.
Adjoining, to the north the former school master's house, No. 17, is of 1½ storeys
and three bays of picturesque Gothic detail. 3-light window to left of doorway
which is in a stone gabled porch. 2-light window to its right. Blue brick string
course. Two upper dormer gables, coped and corbelled out, with square stone
chamfered mullioned lights. Blue brick diaper work to first floor. Banded slate
roofs throughout. Included for group value.
