House: 1837 for John Mellor. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble
ashlar dressings, half-hipped Welsh slate roof and 4 stone chimneys.
Double pile plan. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay front. Plinth,
rusticated quoins, ashlar band at 1st floor and a projecting moulded
cornice. End bays have 16-pane sashes under flat channelled heads.
Rebated elliptical arched doorcase contains a fanlight with marginal
lights and shaped iron glazing bar." 4-panelled door has Ionic
architrave. Gables are shaped trapeziums with stone copings and
contain a similarly shaped window with radial glazing bars.
Design of shaped gables and Ionic architrave probably inspired by Park
Green House, Sunderland Street, Macclesfield.
