Kent Green Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Late C18/early C19. Red Flemish bond brick with a plain
tile roof. Three storeys with a 2-storey wing to the rear of C19
date. The entrance front is of 3 bays symmetrically disposed. Ashlar
plinth. Bands of 2 bricks depth between the ground and first and
first and second floors. Central doorway to the ground floor which
has a C20 panelled surround with a boarded pediment above. This
overlays an earlier wooden door surround. Rectangular overdoor and
flat arched head. To either side are ground floor windows of 3 x 4
sash panes with ashlar sills and flat-arched heads and there are three
similar windows to the first floor and three similar windows of 3 x 2
panes to the second floor. The left hand side has an additional
basement floor revealed due to the slope in the land. This has a
central doorway with cambered head. To the ground and first floors
are windows of 3 x 4 panes and to the second floor a window of 3 x 2
panes, all similar to those on the entrance front. The right hand
side is similar with the projecting C19 wing at right, which is of 2
bays.
Interior: Staircase of 3 flights, open-string with moulded tread ends
and three turned balusters to each tread. Panelled door-surrounds and
doors.
