Private chapel, mid C19 by Salvin. Rock-faced sandstone with tile
roof. 2-bay nave and single-bay, less-lofty and narrower chancel.
Projecting weathered plinth. Diagonal buttresses to nave quoins. The
nave entrance (north) is a Gothic headed oak door, on ornamental strap
hinges, in an opening with edge roll and hood mould with faces as
stops. 1-to-3-light windows with trefoil heads to lights and
multifoil-crown lights to those with mullions. Moulded stone eaves
cornice and shaped rafter feet. Gable coping with moulded kneelers
and gablet finials. Stone cross finials to nave and chancel. A
cruciform stone bellcote, over the chancel arch but partly
corbelled-out on the chancel side, has stone pyramidal roof with
weather-vane.
Interior: An arcade of three shallow Gothic arches separate the south
aisle from the nave; the ceiling of this area is stone vaulted and
supports the wall walk of the castle (qv) at that point. The Oak
reredos is inscribed with the Lord's Prayer and the Ten Commandments.
The communion rail is supported by twisted metal wrought iron
supports. The choir consists of single benches with poppyheads, the
benches in the nave also have poppyheads. The Vestry (South) has
studded door hung on ornamental strap hinges in an opening with
shoulded lintel. The chancel has an arch-braced roof, supported by
corbels carved as faces, and an eaves cornice based on open trefoils.
The Baptistry (west) contains a carved stone font with carved oak
cover. The nave has arched braced trusses with single hammer beams
and braces supported by stone face corbels. There are ashlar pieces
to the feet of the rafters.

Although a modest building, the chapel completes the ensemble of
Peckforton Castle (qv) which is of major importance.
