Water tower c20 metres west of Bostock Hall

Water tower. c1850 and c1875. Red English garden wall bond brick
with Ruabon brick to upper body stone dressings and shingle and lead
roof. Square tower of 3 stages. Courtyard facade: lower stage of
plain brick c1850 with cambered-headed doorway to upper wall
originally approached by an external staircase but now blocked. Cyma
moulded stone string course above. Second stage above this of Ruabon
brick with offset above which are two recessed rectangular panels.
Further cyma-moulded string course between this and the third stage
which has six panels of blind cusped tracery. Bartizans to this stage
with moulded stone and brick bases and lead spires. Further row of
twelve cusped panels above with three pairs of lights. Splay footed
octagonal spire above with short ridge.
