5/28 Laurel Farmhouse.

GV II

Formerly farmhouse, now house: early C17 with new front and
extensions of early C19. Partly timber framed with brick nogging on
stone plinth, partly English garden wall bond orange brick. Thatched
roof, and a central brick chimney. 2-room lobby-entry plan. 1-storey
and attic, 3-bay front. End bays have 3-light wooden casements with
shallow segmental brick heads below, 2-light casements in gabled
dormers above. Central board door with iron strap hinges behind flimsy
glazed gabled patch. Timber-framing in gable ends.
Interior: entry against baffle, room to right has small inglenook
with oak bressumer and chamfered ceiling beam. Room to left has
corner fireplace with modern grate. Stairs behind stack. Trusses of
tiebeam with 2 diagonal struts and wind braced purlins. Timber
framing complete on 3 walls.
