5/83 High Ash Farmhouse.

Farmhouse, probably 1819 (datestone on farmbuilding, q.v.) of Flemish
bond brown brickwork with graded grey slate roof. 3 storeys; 3
windows. Stone plinth and eaves cornice. Entrance front has gabled
porch added and late C20 bow-fronted flat-roofed bay window right of
porch. Almost flush sashes: 12-pane left of porch; 20-pane unequal
sashes to middle storey; 6-pane to upper storey; openings have
margin-tooled wedge lintels and projecting cills of stone. Garden
front has gabled brick porch added and late C20 bow-fronted
flat-roofed bay window left of porch. 16-pane sash right of porch;
tooled stone band at 1st floor; 16-pane sashes to middle storey
bedrooms and 12-pane to landing; 6-pane replaced windows to upper
storey; lintels and cills as on entrance-front. Handsome end gables
with dentilled brick course at eaves level and dentilled verges.
Flush gable chimneys. Former dairy wing (now part of house) has plain
band at 1st floor (garden side only) and dog-tooth brick eaves.
Blocked round archway on yard side. Slate roof in 2 bands: small near
ridge, large below. Re-windowed and with small extension on end.
Interior: 6-panel doors; some sawn oak beams; Oak stair of 1 flight
per storey has curtail, fretted brackets and stick balusters.
