Farmhouse. C17, altered early C19 as part of extensive remodelling of Fust
Estate, with later alterations. Rubble and brick with brick dressings, slate
roof to main block and single storey pantiled east dairy, brick stacks. Former
through passage plan. 2 storeys and 3 windows, all 2 and 3-light casements in
flat gauged brick heads, door in 2nd bay from right has trellis porch with
triangular hood, 4-panelled and glass door in plain frame, dairy has 2-light
casement and door. West side has 2 windows as on front, east side has
ventilation opening in dairy, and 2-light window at attic level, one side headed,
plank shutters behind; rear has single storey brick and rubble kitchen wing,
2-light casement in gauged brick segmental head, gable stack, covered passage to
rear of dairy, to right ground floor casement with carved upper section with
rosettes and 4 glass bull's eyes, thick mullion, reset with gauged brick flat
head and brick apron, has C19 casement lights, 3-light casement above.
Interior: plank and batten rear through passage door, C19 stair, 1st floor
retains plank door from former winder, change in floor level to left of passage,
heavy chamfered and stopped beams, dairy has stone flagged floor and lead-lined
troughs. Marked on 1659 map of Hill plotted for Edward Fust, then Lord of the
Manor.
