Hall house, now house. c1400, altered and extended C18 and mid C20. Timber
frame encased in painted roughcast; old tile gabled roof. H-plan with former 3
framed bay hall in centre, a cross wing on left, formerly jettied, and extension
forming cross wing on right; small C20 extension at rear. One and a half
storeys and 2 storeys. Large central ridge chimney with 2 coupled stacks with
offset heads and clay pots. One chimney on right wing south roof slope. C18
and C20 leaded casement windows. Road (west) front: centre section with 2
projecting gabled cross wings. Centre section is symmetrical. Two 3-light
windows in gabled dormers on upper level, two 3-light windows on ground floor
with C20 enclosed gabled porch with plank door. Left hand wing has a 2-light
window on first floor and is otherwise plain. Right hand wing has a C20 3-light
iron casement on ground floor and is also otherwise plain; lean-to extension on
right. Interior: some timber frame exposed. Former cross passage in left hand
cross wing. Redundant crown post roof with side purlins. Smoke-blackened
timbers over former hall.
