Sunday School above stables. c1796. For Godfrey Wentworth of Woolley Hall (q.v.).
Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. Quoins. Central doorway
(to stable) flanked by windows with much-weathered lintels. Original stable
doorway to right end (blocked) has deep quoined lintel and composite jambs, 1st
floor has 2 windows either side of former taking-in door. Coped gable with
kneelers. Left-hand return has flight of 10 stone steps to 1st-floor doorway with
monolithic jambs, over which was formerly date plaque (now housed in coach-house
(q.v.)) inscribed:
"Built by
Godfrey Wentworth Esq
for a Sunday School
Anno 1796"
